Spring Creek Festival Events:

Advanced Fly Casting for Fly Fishers-Joseph Meyer (One More Cast Fly Fishing Shop)

Joseph Meyer, owner/operator of One More Cast fly shop in the Chicago area will demonstrate special fly casting techniques on the stream. This program will take place at 10:00am at Site 1.

Introduction to Fly Casting-Todd Opsal, Orvis-Madison

This activity will be designed to instruct the beginning fisherman on the aspects of casting a fly rod. There will be rods available for those who do not have their own. There will be two sessions of this program. The sessions will take place at 11:00am and again at 3:00pm at Site 3. Interested participants should register at Tent E.

Introduction to Fly Fishing-Craig Amacker (Fontana Sports-Madison)

Craig is an experienced guide and fly casting instructor and his program will focus on guiding the beginning fly fisherman to a successful first trip. Craig will talk about reading the water, identifying hatches, and equipment needs for the beginner. This program will take place at 1:00pm at Site 1.

Multiple Perspectives on Fishing a Stretch of a Stream-Joe Krznarich, Dan Boggs, Jim Bartelt, and Todd Templen

Three experienced fly fishermen will separately fish the same stretch of a stream. People who attend this session will get three different perspectives of how each fishermen would fish the similar stretch of stream. This session will take place near Site 1 at 2:00pm.

Fly Casting Tune-Up-Bob Blumreich (Silver Doctor Fly Fishing)

Guide and Casting Instructor Bob Blumreich will be available for one-on-one casting instruction throughout the day. Bob is a certified casting instructor and can give pointers to beginners and experts alike. Registration will take place in Tent E and instruction will take place from 10:00am to 3:00pm.

Outdoor Photography-Stephen Gassman

Stephen will conduct an afternoon outdoor photo shoot. Stephen is a professional photographer and his pictures have been in many different publications. People interested in this activity should bring their own photography equipment as this will be a hands on program. This program will take place at 2:30pm at Site 2.

Stream Ecology Overview-Assessing the Health of a Stream-Mike Miller (DNR) and UW-Platteville Interns

Mike will evaluate and discuss the major factors that influence stream health. After the program, the UW-Plattville Interns will shock the stream and carry out an assessment of the fish present. This program will take place at 3:30pm at Site 1.

Fly Fishing and Outdoor Products Resale Tent (Tent A)

Bryan Cheesebro has put together a nice list of donated items that will be for sale on the day of the festival. All proceeds from the sale will be used for Nohr Chapter Habitat Improvement Projects. Thanks to all of you who have generously donated for the cause.

Bucket Raffle (Big Tent)

Once again, Dave Fowler has put together a great bucket raffle with very nice items. These items will appeal to both fly fishermen and non-fly fishermen. Bucket raffle tickets will be available the day of the festival.

Special Raffles

During the day, there will be a chance for different special raffles. There will be a special web raffle for those of you who read this information. Bring in a filled out registration form from this brochure and drop it in the special web raffle bucket. Only people who bring in this particular registration for are eligible for the special raffle. There will be similar brochures at the festival but they will not have the Web information on the bottom of them.

There may also be different raffles taking place during the day.

Food and Concessions

There will be hamburgers, brats, chips, baked beans, coleslaw, pop and water available on the grounds. Lunch will be available from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Camping is also available from Thursday night to Sunday. The cost is $10 per night and will collected by Brian Larson during the event.

Cost of the Event:

Free will donation for the program and $10 per night for camping

Raffle tickets for the bamboo and graphite rods: $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00 and can be purchased from any Nohr Chapter member prior to and on the day of the event. Tickets will also be available at some local fly fishing vendors.
